Subcamp - Quest Fest

Subcamp Leader - David Thompson

How long have you been involved in Scouting or Guiding?

Well, somewhere there are rumoured photos of me in a washing up bowl on a Guide camp when I was a matter of months old! I've been in Scouts 21 years as a Leader but before that Ventures, Scouts and Cubs…

What are you most looking forward to at Poacher 2022?

The opening ceremony… Unfortunately, I managed to miss the entire thing at the last Poacher!

Top 5 things to bring to Poacher:

  • Plenty of neckers (always looking to swap like for like)
  • Money for a proper coffee whilst the young people are doing activities!
  • Fundraising ideas
  • Friendship bracelets etcto sell to leaders
  • A tent… of course!
  • Finally, ear plugs… I’m running a subcamp set of Live Action Role Play… at night there will be a lot of dragons roaring (or at least that's how us leaders will explain our snoring!)

What is your favourite activity at Poacher?

I have already mentioned it but… the Coffee bar is a needed distraction! I also like chatting to the young People raising money for trips about what they are doing and where they are going.

Subcamp Leader - Lorraine Derrick

Why did you apply to be a subcamp leader?

I've done it before and enjoyed it, so wanted to do it again!

How long have you been involved in Scouting or Guiding?

Over 20 years, stopped counting now.

What are you most looking forward to at Poacher 2022?

Early mornings, late nights and lots of fun and laughter with like minded friends/family, but most of all to see the smiles of the young people.

Top 5 things to bring to Poacher:

  • Travel mug
  • Comfy chair
  • Toothbrush
  • Sunscreen
  • Fancy dress!

What is your favourite activity at Poacher?

No favourites, they are all fantastic and I have never got to complete them all so my mission is to do something new.
