Cubs, Beavers, Rainbows and Brownies…Oh my!

Thousands of young people from across Lincolnshire
descended upon Poacher as the first of the Taster Days dawned. 2500 Beavers, Rainbows, Cubs, and Brownies visited the site on Sunday to take part in a whole variety of activities..

The Taster Days are designed to allow those who are to young to canp at Poacher to experience the adventure for a day.

Activities including crazy golf, abseiling, bouncy castles, and a climbing wall kept all the youngsters entertained. Alongside the activities a craft marquee with leather work, cooking and face painting kept the younger members of Scouting and Guiding busy. Everybody took the chance to share the Poacher spirit and find out what the camp is really about, visiting the Sub-Camp HQ's.

Beavers from the 4th Louth Colony were enjoying the opportunity to join in the fun. “We really like all the crafts and adventurous activities, as they’re all so exciting”. Quad bikes and an inflatable helter-skelter proved to be among the most popular activities. The Taster Days, which are also running again on Wednesday, are a key part of Poacher.

The Taster Day Managers, Jan and Nigel Savil, said “It really just gives them a taste of Poacher, and there are always lots of happy faces at the end of the day. The youngsters just can’t wait to come back for the whole camp”. With over 50 crafts and plenty of activities to keep everyone in high spirits, it’s not difficult to see why.
