Welcome to the Pole 2 Pole pages

All of the Pole 2 Pole team are looking forward to meeting old friends and making new ones at Poacher 2008.  Our aims are to make everyone feel welcome on our Sub Camp and bring a truly "POLAR" atmosphere to Poacher 2008.

As always we will have plenty of activities for participants and leaders including our now 'world famous' swap shop!

Please take time to visit our pages regularly as we will update them regularly with more information on our Sub Camp.

If you wish to contact the Sub Camp to query anything or ask a question please email: pole2pole@ratherbewalking.com

image Perri The Penguin (Sub Camp Mascot)Hi – I’m Perri, that’s P.E.R.R.I and I’m your local friendly penguin.  I just can’t wait for Poacher to arrive because I’ll be living in my new home on the Pole 2 Pole Sub Camp!  Apparently the people looking after me are a really friendly bunch, they are all my friends and they have lots of activities planned for you.  Well it's November now so I am going to start my journey to Poacher 2008, keep checking the Perri tracker blog to see my progress as I travel my way up from the Antarctic!I can’t wait to meet you all when you arrive at Pole 2 Pole...Read my blog here

image Sue Morrison (Sub Camp Chief - Scouts)
Hi – I’m Sumo; yes I am back again by popular request as your Sub Camp Chief (The wise and responsible one) and I am looking forward to welcoming you all, including Perri to Pole 2 Pole.

image Sue Cole (Sub Camp Chief - Guides)
Hi - my name is Sue or mini me to my friends.  I’ve been to Poacher 4 or 5 times before (I’m not quite sure how many!).  This time I’ve been promoted to Sub Camp chief and I can’t wait to meet you all.  If I’m not on the Sub Camp I’ll be off liaising!

image Roy
Hi - I'm Roy.  I have been in scouting for a hundred years, been to Poacher loads of times, but this is my first time on the Sub Camp staff.  My official role is looking after Perri's catering requirements.... Look out for me in the Igloo.

image Kathryn
Hi I'm Kathryn I've been to Poacher loads of times before. I have worked on the Sub Camp as a Gofar and last time I was in the Entertainment game!  This time I will be looking after Perri and also..... - you will just have to wait and see!  I am looking forward to seeing you all.

image Chris (K)
Hi I'm Chris K,  This isn't my first Poacher but it is my first time on a Sub Camp and I am looking forward to seeing you all.  When I am not at Poacher I am a District Commissioner, but please don't hold that against me!!

Hi I am Chris C.  Here I am back at Poacher once more, last time I only visited this Sub Camp, now I'm on the team - well half the time anyway!  In the daytime I'll be completely here to welcome you and after 5pm I'll change into something different and you will find me lurking round the bars... you better make sure your names on the list....

image David
Hi my name is David and I can't wait for Poacher!  I have been coming to Poacher for longer than I can remember.  I hold the important position of snow forecaster for the team.  If you see me out and about on a bike stop me and check it's the right one!

image Pam
Hi my name is Pam and I will be working with David to help ensure you get lots of wonderful activity tickets... More details of my poaching are to follow...

image Claire
Hi my name is Claire - watch out for me because I am a Guide and a Scout... Oh and I love CSI ask me to find out why? I promise to write more info here soon!

image Joey
Hi my name is Joey I will be the Polar Quiz Master on the sub camp.  I will be writing more fantastic info here soon!

image Lorna
When Poacher starts I will have finished my first year at University and will be in need of an adventure like Poacher. I have been in guiding since I was six and dragged to Rainbows and have not enjoyed anything as much since.  I am looking forward to seeing the other side of Camp on staff this year!!  I am also a Gofar just like my Polar mate James...  I will be helping keeping Perri under control!

imageJames
Hi, I’m James and this will be my third poacher, but undoubtedly the best as I will be an arctic gofar on the best sub camp ever but then again I am someone who blows their own trumpet! (I am a trumpet player....)

Getting ready for Pole 2 Pole

Top of Page

Things you can do in your units in preparation for Poacher 2008 and the Pole 2 Pole Sub Camp.

There are a few things we need from you to help you feel part of our sub camp.

• Each Scout or Guide to bring a decorated fish cut out of paper with their name and group on it
and with a metal paper clip attached. The fish should be no bigger than A5. This is
for a friendship activity in the marquee.

image

• Each group is to bring either a polar bear or a penguin, made out of anything you want,
but measuring no bigger than 60cm tall or wide. Please indicate on it somehow which
group it is from.

Anything by Snow Patrol

And so on...

As we get ideas for good tunes we will build Perri's playlist here!
