I’m the International Adviser for Lincolnshire South Guides, and a unit Guide Guider in Skegness. I’ve had the opportunity to lead a region trip to an international camp in Sweden, taken a group of Guides and Senior Section from our county to Belarus, a country we have had a link with for over 15 years, and also led a county trip to Switzerland. I have been to every Poacher camp since 1982 (when I was a very young Guide!) and was a member of the International Team at Poacher 2004.

I'm an Explorer Scout Leader in Boston. I'm 27 years old, and have been involved with Scouting all my life, as my Mum was a Cub Scout leader. I've been very lucky when it comes to international Scouting and Guiding; I’ve represented both organisations abroad. For the 2007 World Scout Jamboree I was an Assistant Leader supporting the Lincolnshire, Leicestershire and Rutland Contingent. I've travelled a lot and have lived in Japan for three years, so have a good understanding of many different cultures.
Together, we are the International Team Leaders for Poacher 2008, and look forward to meeting you!
During the week the International Marquee is a meeting place for all Scouts and Guides (and their leaders!) to:
- learn about Scouting and Guiding in other countries, including their cultures and maybe even tasting some food
- watch ceremonies and performances from other countries
- look at the International displays from around the world
- join in with some badge swapping meet up
- have a go at making traditional crafts from other countries
- meet and chat with other Scouts and Guides over a coffee
All International Groups (including Scotland, Wales and Ireland etc) are encouraged to bring displays, demonstrations, etc. Ideal items are local maps, flags, tourist leaflets, craft items and any other items that embody your culture.
